Brunswick Square Mall redevelopment in East Brunswick, NJ

Last Updated: March 26th, 2026

Brunswick Square is currently undergoing a significant transformation from a traditional enclosed mall into a modern, open-air mixed-use destination. While the mall’s interior corridors officially closed in January 2026, the property remains a vital hub for shopping, dining, and entertainment in East Brunswick. Anchored by Macy’s Clearance Center, JCPenney, and the AMC Brunswick Square 13, many of your favorite retailers remain open and accessible via their own external entrances during this redevelopment phase.

Located along Route 18, the “new” Brunswick Square is evolving beyond retail to include medical services, fitness, and premier recreation. For shoppers seeking a traditional indoor mall experience during this transition, Woodbridge Center and Freehold Raceway Mall are both within 20-30 minutes. Stay updated on construction progress and new store openings by following the Brunswick Square Facebook page.

Visitor Information & Redevelopment Status

Current Hours

Because the interior mall is closed, there are no “general mall hours.” Each anchor and external-facing store maintains its own schedule. Most major retailers are open daily, with typical hours being 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Monday–Saturday) and 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Sunday).

East Brunswick Mall Map & Directions

Use this East Brunswick Mall map to locate the active anchor stores during the ongoing redevelopment. Brunswick Square is located at 751 NJ-18, East Brunswick, NJ 08816. From the NJ Turnpike (I-95), take Exit 9 and follow NJ-18 South for approximately 5 miles. The site is also easily reached from the Garden State Parkway and Route 1. Ample free surface parking remains available around the perimeter of the property near the active anchor stores and the theater.

Premier Health & Wellness: Hackensack Meridian Health

As part of the mall’s transition to a mixed-use lifestyle center, a state-of-the-art Hackensack Meridian Health medical facility is a core addition to the property. This facility brings world-class healthcare directly to the East Brunswick community, offering a range of services from primary care to specialized treatments. The integration of healthcare into the Brunswick Square footprint allows visitors to manage their wellness appointments conveniently alongside their daily errands and shopping.

Active Recreation: The Picklr

Brunswick Square is becoming a destination for active lifestyles with the addition of The Picklr, a premier indoor pickleball facility. Catering to the fastest-growing sport in America, The Picklr offers high-quality courts, professional clinics, and community tournaments. Whether you are a seasoned “pro” or a beginner looking to learn, this facility provides a climate-controlled environment to play year-round, reinforcing the mall’s new identity as a community recreation hub.

Stores & Future Openings

The redevelopment is introducing a curated mix of “right-sized” retail and community services. While the interior specialty shops have moved out, the core anchors and several high-profile new additions define the new landscape:

  • Active Anchors: Macy’s, JCPenney, Barnes & Noble, Old Navy
  • Coming Soon / Newly Opened: Nordstrom Rack, PGA TOUR Superstore, J.Crew, and Fun City
  • Recreation & Health: The Picklr (Indoor Pickleball), Results Boxing, and Hackensack Meridian Health
  • Dining: Panera Bread, The Habit Burger Grill, and Olive Garden (located on the perimeter)

AMC Brunswick Square 13

The AMC Brunswick Square 13 remains a cornerstone of the property and is open for business during the site’s renovation. Featuring 13 screens with Real D 3D and digital surround sound, it continues to be the premier cinema destination for East Brunswick. Guests should use the dedicated theater entrance. Check the AMC Theatres website for current showtimes and tickets.

Our Take on East Brunswick Mall

★★★ Brunswick Square has always been a solid, no-fuss option for a quick Central Jersey trip. We love the Macy’s here, and the new additions — Nordstrom Rack, The Picklr, and more — are shaping it into something fresh. Additionally, it’s very easy to get in and out without the chaos you’d find at bigger malls. It’s definitely more of a community hub than a destination right now, but the redevelopment is genuinely exciting.
