Why Shop in New Jersey?
New Jersey offers the best shopping conditions in the Northeast for three reasons. First, clothing and footwear are permanently exempt from sales tax — 0% on every apparel purchase, at every store, every day. No tax holidays, no spending limits. For shoppers from NYC or Pennsylvania, this saves meaningful money on every trip.
Second, NJ has remarkable shopping density. American Dream, Garden State Plaza, Jersey Gardens, Short Hills, and Woodbury Commons are all within about an hour of each other. Third, several NJ cities sit in Urban Enterprise Zones where most taxable goods (electronics, cosmetics, accessories) are taxed at half the normal rate — 3.3% instead of 6.6%.
